Future of Economy Programme

The Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) Kosova successfully organized the 2025 edition of the Future of Economy Programme, held from 21–26 September in Peja.

Bringing together young professionals and academics from across the Western Balkans and Turkey, the program provided an in-depth exploration of economic transformation, democratic governance, and regional development. Participants also engaged in cultural and networking activities, including hiking in the Rugova Mountains and visits to the Kosovo National Parliament and the Reporting House in Prishtina.

Throughout the six-day program, experts led sessions on expansionary economic policies, inequality and wealth concentration, resilience theory, gender economics, agriculture, and innovation in emerging markets. A major highlight was the multi-day simulation on trade negotiations, where participants assumed roles of fictional countries to better understand diplomacy, strategic decision-making, and international economic dynamics.

The programme concluded with discussions on the energy transition, geopolitics, and their implications for regional economies. Participants presented reflections, received certificates, and explored opportunities for continued cooperation through the growing Future of Economy alumni network. The 2025 edition reaffirmed FES Kosova’s commitment to fostering regional dialogue, critical thinking, and forward-looking economic perspectives.
