Panel Discussion on the Importance of Intercultural Dialogue

Within the framework of the "Balkan Culture Week 2019" project youth representatives from the Regional Youth Cooperation Office RYCO together with the RYCO Secretariat and the German Ambassador in Kosovo Christin Heldt discussed “The Importance of Intercultural Dialogue on Increasing Regional Cooperation” on 07 June 2019 in Pristina. They youth representatives emphasized the power of culture to bring people together and to make valuable intercultural experiences. Hereby RYCO offers new opportunities for exchange and cooperation at the regional level for young people. During the following discussion, participants outlined limited freedom of movement and prevailing nationalistic narratives as challenges to intercultural dialogue and regional cooperation in the countries of the Western Balkan.

The project “Balkan Culture Week 2019” aims at increasing intercultural cooperation among young people in the Western Balkans and create opportunities for intercultural dialogue and inter-ethnic communication through art and culture. The panel discussion was organized by ACCESS with support from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in Pristina.
