THE FUTURE OF ECONOMY PROGRAMME

THE FUTURE OF ECONOMY PROGRAMME

21–26 September 2025, Peja, Kosova

Who we are and what we offer:

The Western Balkans (WB) region and Turkey continue to undergo complex transitional processes, particularly in the economic sphere. Different developments have significantly influenced the economic conditions of these countries, impacting societal well-being and prompting critical reflection on their current trajectories.

What is clear, however, is that such challenges demand a pragmatic and solutions-oriented response. For developing and transitional economies seeking to secure their place in an increasingly interconnected global environment, the need for a coherent macroeconomic perspective is more urgent than ever – especially in light of geopolitical developments such as conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, or the imposition of U.S. tariffs on foreign goods and services.

The Future of Economy Programme (FEP), an initiative of the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) in Kosova, aims to address different topics from the persepctive of the WB6 countries and Turkey to give an overview on existing challenges and to discuss possible solutional steps. From 21–26 September 2025, the program’s fourth cohort will convene in Kosova, bringing together young, forward-thinking individuals. The aim is to foster inclusive, balanced, and forward-looking economic thinking that is capable of addressing the challenges of a rapidly evolving global and regional context.

FEP will engage participants in key topics including economic progressivism, fiscal policies, future of work, just energy transition, geopolitical challenges, etc. The program combines expert-led lectures, group work, negotiation simulations, case studies, and analytical exercises to offer a dynamic and in-depth learning experience.

This five-day program provides a unique opportunity to gain critical insights from leading experts, exchange ideas with peers from across the region, and build the skills necessary to contribute to a more equitable and sustainable economic future.

Whether you are an emerging economist, a policymaker, or someone deeply committed to shaping fair and sustainable economic systems, the Future of Economy Programme offers valuable knowledge and practical tools to support your work.
